After completion of the programme the graduate will:
- Demonstrate the knowledge of concepts, principles and applications of Biotechnology in various fields
- Acquire critical thinking skills to understand and solve contemporary problems with biotechnology
- Able to apply Fundamental knowledge of biotechnology and allied sciences in pursuing higher studies or research at any globally recognized organization
- Gain ability to design, conduct experiments, analyze and interpret data for investigating problems in Biotechnology and allied fields
- Understand standard operating procedures and acquire in-depth technical competence to handle the basic laboratory instruments
- Communicate effectively using different modes ( written, verbal and digital) not only with scientific community but also with the society at large
- Understand requirement and principles of interdisciplinary domains for sustainable development
- Understand the implications of biotechnological solutions in societal and environmental context
- Able to function effectively as individual and as a member in multidisciplinary settings
- Able to recognize the need to undertake life-long learning and acquire the capacity to do so
- Apply the ethical principals in development of products and in research through biotechnology
- Gain the ability to lead a group and develop capabilities to assimilate and apply the acquired knowledge when and where required.

After completion of the programme the Post graduate will:
- Acquire in-depth theoretical and technical competence in Biotechnology discipline
- Fit to perform as a successful professional in various career options
- Demonstrate the ability to plan and execute safely a series of experiments in a scientific way, required for further research at a higher level
- Able to identify problems related to agriculture, health and industries and to analyze and derive valid conclusions with fundamental knowledge in biotechnology
- Able to design solution to problems by applying suitable components and processes within the safety constraints for environmental & societal needs
- Acquire critical thinking skills to solve problems that can be modelled Biotechnologically
- Ability to function as responsible citizen with ethical values, accountable to the society
- Demonstrate the detailed knowledge of the major areas of life sciences including a wide range of factual information and experimentally observed phenomena.
- Demonstrate professional Skill to handle sophisticated equipments used in biotechnology and to analyze the data
- Ability to present biotechnological research results to a technically literate audience by means of an oral presentation, scientific poster or a written report.
- Exhibit leadership qualities with ability to function effectively as an individual and in a team.
- Able to integrate and appraise information/knowledge from a variety of sources throughout the life
The Department of Biotechnology offers graduate, postgraduate and Ph. D programmes which imparts fundamental as well as real world problem solving approach to its students for the development and betterment of the society.
Over last decade the Department of Biotechnology has engaged students in various beneficial and innovative activities such as Lab to Land, Periodical Newsletters, Creative Assignments, STAR Projects, and Internship Programmes at campus, Earn While You Learn scheme, Research Proposal Writing and SOP preparation for various laboratory instruments.
The department facilitates students with an enormous infrastructure to enable nearly five hundred students each year to learn and explore various aspects of biotechnology with the aid of several sophisticated instruments and techniques.
We are pioneer in exposing students to Plant Tissue Culture, Bioinformatics and Animal Tissue Culture techniques in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat. We motivate the students to aim for sustainable development by encouraging recycling of waste into useful products such as Recycled Paper and Flowers' preparation from agriculture waste.
