The Departmental Goals

  • To develop and provide excellent research tools and capabilities through our resource facilities
  • To enable student to acquire specialized skills in core aspects of biotechnology and apply them for the development of innovative technologies
  • To train student to realize enormous responsibility of being a biotechnologist to serve society taking cognizance of ethical and environmental responsibilities
  • To promote, support and facilitate the overall development of both traditional and modern Biotechnology in the State, including livelihood development programmes
  • To enhance the culture of continuous improvement

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs) for UG

PEO 1: To develop the competency in the graduates to pursue higher education or successful career with synergistic combination of the knowledge and skills of biotechnology and allied sciences

PEO 2: To inculcate in graduates the capabilities of independently designing, executing and interpreting small research problems and handling basic laboratory instruments.

PEO 3: To impart communication skills for effectively comprehend and communicate domain knowledge to layman as well as qualified person.

PEO 4: To instill values and responsibilities in the character to make the graduates fit to work in a multidisciplinary team and to become socio-ethically responsible citizen.

PEO 5:  To develop self-learning abilities by inculcating attitude to keep themselves abreast with new development in all spheres of life.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs) for PG

Our programme will produce Post Graduates who:

PEO 1: will be capable to creatively apply the knowledge of Biotechnology as well as other related discipline for his professional and research career.

PEO 2: will contribute in the field of agriculture, health and industries in designing, developing and providing solutions for product/processes/technology development.

PEO 3: are flexible and adaptable in different work environments, prepared to acquire, develop, employ and integrate new technologies and exhibit leadership and team work quality.

PEO 4: will exhibit ethical behavior consistent with academic honesty and use of appropriate guidelines and procedures with responsible conduct of research.

PEO 5: will have love for learning in pursuance of excellence in all domains of life.

The Department of Biotechnology offers graduate, postgraduate and Ph. D programmes which imparts fundamental as well as real world problem solving approach to its students for the development and betterment of the society.

Over last decade the Department of Biotechnology has engaged students in various beneficial and innovative activities such as Lab to Land, Periodical Newsletters, Creative Assignments, STAR Projects, and Internship Programmes at campus, Earn While You Learn scheme, Research Proposal Writing and SOP preparation for various laboratory instruments.

Department Highlights/Exclusive

The department facilitates students with an enormous infrastructure to enable nearly five hundred students each year to learn and explore various aspects of biotechnology with the aid of several sophisticated instruments and techniques.

We are pioneer in exposing students to Plant Tissue Culture, Bioinformatics and Animal Tissue Culture techniques in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat. We motivate the students to aim for sustainable development by encouraging recycling of waste into useful products such as Recycled Paper and Flowers' preparation from agriculture waste.
